Every docs article has a visibility: Public or Unlisted.
Public articles show up on your docs site, get indexed there, and appear in your docs site search.
Unlisted articles stay inside your workspace. Your team can read and edit them from the docs editor, but they never appear on your docs site and never show up in your docs site search. The Productlane Agent still reads unlisted articles and uses them to answer customers in chat.
Use unlisted articles for anything you want the agent to know but don't want customers browsing: internal runbooks, refund policies, escalation steps, or notes that only make sense with context your support team already has.
Click the new-article button in the docs sidebar, or on the docs home screen, and pick one of three options:
Public article: shown on your docs site.
Unlisted article: the agent answers from it, hidden from your docs site.
External link: a page you already host elsewhere. Productlane doesn't render it, but the Productlane Agent can read it when answering customers. A link is always unlisted, since it has no page of its own on your docs site.
Open any article and use the Public/Unlisted button in the header, shown with a globe or lock icon, to switch it. Switching from Public to Unlisted pulls that article off your docs site right away. Switching back to Public republishes it if it was already published before.
The docs sidebar and the docs home screen both split your articles into a Public section and an Unlisted section, so the two never mix. A Sources section lists any connected knowledge sources, like a connector, that the agent can also read from.
The Docs settings page shows a count of how many articles are public and how many are unlisted, so you can see at a glance how much of your content stays internal.
The "Publish" button in the editor reads "Save" instead, since saving it never puts it in front of customers.
The cover image and summary fields are hidden, since those only render on the public docs site.
A published unlisted article shows a red "Unlisted" pill instead of a "Draft" pill, so you can tell it apart from a public article that just isn't live yet.
An unlisted article that hasn't been saved yet still shows "Draft": it reaches nobody at all until then, so that state takes priority over the visibility pill.
