Article visibility in the editor

The site-wide publish switch above turns the whole docs site on or off. Each article also carries its own visibility, set from the visibility button on the article itself in the Help Center editor:

• Public - the article shows in the docs sidebar and in search.

• Unlisted - the article stays reachable at its own link but drops out of the sidebar and out of search. Unlisted articles are still listed in a dedicated "Unlisted articles" section of the editor so you can find and manage them.

Marking a parent article Unlisted also unlists every subpage nested under it, since a hidden parent takes its whole branch out of the public sidebar. A toast reports how many nested articles were affected. Clicking Undo on that toast puts the parent back to Public and restores each affected subpage to Public too.

Article visibility: Public vs Unlisted

Each article in the Help Center editor has a visibility button (globe or chevron-down icon) that sets it to Public or Unlisted.

• Public articles appear in the docs sidebar and are reachable by anyone browsing your published docs.

• Unlisted articles stay off the sidebar and out of search, though the page itself still exists if someone has the direct link.

Nested articles (subpages) are only reachable by navigating through their parent. Because of that, setting a parent article to Unlisted also unlists every subpage underneath it, however many levels deep. A toast confirms the change and, when it hid subpages along with the parent, tells you how many. Click Undo on that toast to make the parent Public again and restore the subpages it took with it back to Public.

The same rule applies as you build out a branch:

• Creating a new article under an Unlisted parent makes the new article Unlisted too.

• Moving an existing article (via drag and drop) so it becomes a subpage of an Unlisted parent unlists it.

Publishing a parent back to Public does not automatically make its subpages Public again; any subpage you had deliberately set to Unlisted stays that way.

Link entries and unlisted articles

The Unlisted section of the docs sidebar holds rows that do not appear on your public docs site: draft articles you are still writing, and link entries.

A link entry is a sidebar row that points at an external URL instead of holding its own body, for example a careers page or a policy hosted outside Productlane. Add one from the Unlisted section. Since there is no publish step for a link, it goes live the moment you create it.

Both link entries and unlisted articles can be removed from their row's ... menu in the sidebar, or from the ... menu in a link's own editor header. Admins and members can delete; viewers cannot.

The Productlane Agent can read the page behind a link entry and can cite it in an answer using its real URL, since the page lives outside Productlane. An unlisted article can still ground an answer, but the Agent never hands a customer a direct link to it, since it has no public page to open.
